Dell Inspiron 5000, 5000E Hard Drive Installation Guide
1. Shut down computer.
2. Unplug the ac adapter, if present.
3. Remove the primary battery (and the secondary battery, if present).
4. The Hard Drive compartment is located on the front panel. Close the display; turn the computer upside-down on the flat work surface.
5. Remove the screw from the center of the hard drive door.
6. Pull the drive assembly straight out of the bottom case assembly.
7. Push the new drive assembly into the hard drive opening of the computer.
Replace the screw in the drive door.
8. Replace the battery and plug in the ac adapter.
NOTICE: When the hard-disk drive is not in the computer, store it in a hard-disk drive case or protective wrapping to protect it from exposure to static electricity.
NOTICE: Handle the hard-disk drive gently; do not bump or drop the drive. Rough handling of the drive could induce failure or loss of data.
