Well the device does not work, called and they did offer a replacement, if i returned it. doesnt make sense for me to spend $30 on the device shipping, originally. Then pay for shipping the item back to them and then repay for shipping back to myself again. (grand total would be over $55 dollars for a device that cost about $25). Ill just take it as a loss and not bother with them again. Speaking with a peson theyre said that the thing would supply power to assist a 500 power USB. I have verified that the usb port on my device does in face supply 500.

Comments: I ordered a DC-DC (car cigarette lighter) power converter and a slim combo
CD-RW/DVD-ROM for a Dell Lattitude C-series laptop. The items arrived on time and in good
condition. They work fine and Im happy with them. The optical drive was on the expensive
side, but thats because Dell in their wisdom designed the C-series laptops with a curved
front edge so the drive requires a non-standard face plate. I chose BixNET because they
advertised new drives, not pulls or refurbished, and that seems to be what they shipped.
The software I received included Cyberlink PowerDVD and the Nero OEM suite, which are
entirely satisfactory for my purposes. Installation of the new drive in the caddy that
held the old drive was straightforward, but it does require a tiny jewellers-size phillips
screwdriver. I happened to have one, but keep that in mind if youre planning to upgrade a
removeable laptop drive.

It took a minute to realize that they personally installed the proper disk drive in the enclosure themselves, and just used the box to ship it. It was really not a problem, but I can imagine that a small note saying that the disk is really in the enclosure might be a helpful addition. Setup was simple and it has worked perfectly with my USB 1.1 Windows 98 (not SE, which is an impossible configuration to find nowadays from other sellers) system. Having it create a tray entry to allow safe removal of the disk from the system while the computer is on is a great idea.

I found BiX, and saw that they had a way to swap out my internal 40GB drive for an 80GB, transfer ALL my 40GB software (XP operating system, too) to the new 80GB, and put the original Dell internal 40GB drive into a neat USB 2.0 external enclosure (which can be used on any of my computers). number of the products are not available from any UK dealers. My order was easily placed
through the website and the security procedures in relation to credit card fraud

The Easygig software states that only one license will be used between the two same hard drives. This is not true. Once I browsed various items I then emailed a questionabout a AC adapter which was answered in less than a day. I have a Dell Latitude CPx unit in which I wanted to upgrade the CD to a CDRW. They had a unit for $179, far cheaper than a Dell unit ($300). Also, I wanted a smaller AC adpater, they had one. What I needed to know was if the AC cord was 2 prong into the adapter box like most brands or 3 prong which Dell uses. It turned out to be a dettachable 2 prong cord. Just the info I needed. Then locally I purchased a APC mobil surge protector. Both items purchased from Bix Computers allowed me to avoid any additional wall worts. I'm going to Ireland and now I only need a plug adapter, small is good. The CDRW installation isn't for the faint at heart but Bix provided enough info and warnings. I found a compatible 20 Gig hard drive for the same price that other sites were charging for the standard 2.1 Gig replacement. Comments: The best thing about this merchant (and a couple of other Yahoo merchants I've shopped with) is the fact that they do not force me to register and leave my credit number permanently on their 'secure' server. I use quotation because I do not beleive in 100% security. There can be 'more security' when this sensitive information is stored only where it MUST be stored (for example, in my bank), 'less security' when it is on file with 10 - 20 'secure' servers (sometimes I hear that another 'secure' server is hacked leaking sometimes hundreds of thousands numbers, and I beleive more often they are hacked without reporting the fact of hacking) or no security at all when this sensitive information is stored permanently on zillions and zillions of 'secure' servers where I've ever shopped
