1. Prepare the notebook for disassembly.

2. Turn the notebook upside down with the right side toward you.

3. Remove the 2 PM2.5×6.0 screws (1) that secure the combination drive to the notebook.

4. Slowly slide the drive out of the notebook (2) as far as the drive cable (3) will allow.

5. Flip the drive over and rest it on the notebook (1).

*If the combination drive consists of an optical drive and a diskette drive, perform steps 6 and 7 to disconnect the flex cable from the drive.

6. Release the zero insertion force (ZIF) connector (2) to which the drive cable is attached and disconnect the cable (3).

7. Remove the combination drive.

*If the combination drive consists of an optical drive and an HPUSB Digital Drive, perform steps 8 and 9 to disconnect the flex cable from the drive.

8. Release the zero insertion force (ZIF) connector (1) to which the drive cable is attached and disconnect the cable (2).

9. Remove the combination drive.

10. To separate the optical drive from the HP USB Digital Drive or diskette drive, remove the 4 PM2.0×3.0 screws (1) that secure the drives together.

11. Separate the drives (2).

Disassembling the Combination Drive.

Reverse the above procedure to reassemble and install the combination drive.
